Course Title: Charge Writing: An Essential Building Block for Defensible Actions

Course Description: The presenter will provide expert knowledge on the important topic of charge writing. This Roundtable will prepare Employee and Labor Relations specialists on how to select and write defensible adverse actions. When agencies develop well-written charges based on what they can prove, they increase their chances of prevailing at the Merit Systems Protection Board. The presentation will include the following learning objectives:

  • Understanding the Employee Relations practitioner’s role at the proposal stage
  • Providing an overview of the approach to writing good charges
  • Understanding common agency charges and the penalty selection process
