Course Title: 2017 Federal Benefits Training Event

Course Description: The Office of Personnel Management, Retirement Services, Benefits Officers Training and Development (BOTD) will be conducting their largest event of the year, the 2017 Federal Benefits Training Event, in Atlanta, GA from June 19 – 23, 2017. During these 4½ days of training, BOTD is offering a variety of workshops which will be attended by Human Resources professionals from various Federal and DOD agencies, with the goal of increasing their knowledge of the Federal benefits programs and to improve their benefits counseling skills. These workshops, led by OPM experts, will offer an intensive, high-energy learning experience on selected topics. We anticipate that 400 to 500 Human Resources professionals will attend this event.

This year they will offer full-day and half-day workshops on Monday and Tuesday of the event week. Wednesday through noon on Friday they will hold general sessions of interest to all attendees, providing an overview of retirement financial education programs as well as news and updates on current Federal benefits programs. They will also have breakouts covering a wide variety of Federal Benefits topics.

Dinner will be provided on Tuesday evening for all that register for the 2 ½ day event that starts on Wednesday morning.

Attendance at the Benefits Training meets the requirement in 5 U.S.C 8350(3) that "once each year, each retirement counselor of an agency shall successfully complete a training session conducted under the [U.S. Office of Personnel Management] training program."
